"I love coming to work each day. We meet great people from all over southeastern North Carolina and get a chance to let folks know that we really care about their problems.”

Carolyn, joined her husband, Jim, in the law office in 2003, and she is often one of the first people our clients meet. She assists clients with Social Security disability appeals and supports our clients through the long disability process.

She is a native of Wilmington, attended New Hanover High School, Wells College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Carolyn brings to the law office her years of experience working in hospitals, nursing homes and for Hospice. She has three sons and loves animals, reading and the outdoors.

Kay is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. In her spare time, outside of spending time with her family and 3 dogs, she enjoys volunteering for Family Promose of the Lower Cape Fear, Welcome Home Angel, Celebrate Recovery and various other programs that give comfort and a better quality of life for others.

"Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." Thomas Jefferson

Gail began working with Mr. Gillespie in 1983 and over the years she has handled all of the intricate, detailed legal papers of a law firm. It is her hard work "behind the scenes" that gets the results needed for the successful resolution of cases. Clients don't often see Gail, but she is there working hard for our clients.

She grew up in rural Garland, NC and attended Cape Fear Community College. She has four children and nine grandchildren. In her free time we find her spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening and walking.

“Our clients are very important to me and l find it rewarding helping them.”

Mary's motto for living is "Being good is commendable, but only when it is combined with doing good is it useful.” Our clients see this every day because Mary greets everyone with a smile and gives close attention to each person's information, questions and concerns.

Mary has been with us since 2003. She moved to Wilmington from Florida and attended Cape Fear Community College. She loves coastal living (especially the beach), and enjoys spending her spare time with her children and grandchildren.
Judy Block - Bookkeeper
Judy Block - Bookkeeper
"I really enjoy working here because I believe we are really helping people to live a better life.”

Judy Block, our bookkeeper, is a native of Minnesota and moved to North Carolina in 1973 after an especially cold winter. She just hadn't seen our summers! But she stayed, raised two daughters, and is now enjoying watching four adult grandchildren go to college. Her passion is working in the food pantry. She is a talented seamstress, doing intricate smocking, and likes to paint.

We are fortunate to have Judy because she is an experienced bookkeeper and cheerfully helps our staff and clients with any financial questions.
